Procedures for Processing Ginny Levine Fund Financial Aid Requests

From All Star II
Jump to: navigation, search

Financial aid applications can be submitted online or by mail to the Ginny Levine Shoalership Fund (GLF) Committee Chairperson, whose name and contact information will be listed in the Star Island Conferences brochure, on the Star Island website (starisland.org), and on the All Star II Financial Aid Application. Questions about the Ginny Levine Fund financial aid process can be directed to the GLF Committee Chairperson. The GLF Committee Chairperson in 2010 is:

Mary Ellen Mellen or memellen@comcast.net 276 Parum Road (860) 537-1814 Colchester, CT 06415-1929

Completed applications should be sent to the Chairperson according to the same March 10 deadline required for All Star II Conference registrations. Aid applications received after that time will be considered only if available funds permit.

The Chairperson will share the applications with the committee members during the application period. When the ASII Conference Chairs have completed their acceptance/waiting lists, that information will be shared with the GLF Committee, whose members will confer in order to match the list of financial aid applicants against the acceptance/waiting lists. The GLF Committee will discuss the applications and decide upon a proposed allocation of funds up to the amount budgeted.

The Chairperson will notify all applicants regarding awards once conference acceptance/waiting list notifications have been sent out by the ASII Conference Chairs. The Chairperson will communicate with applicants by phone and/or email and letter, telling each applicant what they have been awarded and outlining the mechanics of the program.

If an applicant is unable to attend the week on STAR he or she is asked to notify the GLF committee chair as soon as possible so that funds may be available to other needy individuals.

On the Island, the All Star II Conference treasurer will pay the appropriate money to the Hotel and credit the agreed amount to recipients’ bills.

Following the November Chair's Meeting, the GLF committee will determine the amount of funding which will be made available for the following year's GLF awards.
